DSA Needs Assessment Centre Leeds

The Disabled Students Allowance (DSA) is designed to compensate for difficulties you may experience in your studies as a direct result of your disability. If you have requested a draft version to check, you must request any changes to AWE within three working days from receiving it. If, for any reason, you haven't contacted us within five working days of receiving it the report will be sent to the funding body automatically.

Your funding body will let you know whether you are eligible for DSA. The cost of the dsa assessment centre DSA assessment is taken from your DSA funding. If the funding provider does not accept all of the recommendations you should contact the Assessment Centre for advice. An assessor cannot make recommendations relating to a disability that is disclosed during the needs assessment.

We have a team of specialist assessors and offer DSA Assessment of Needs to disabled students, including those with Specific Learning Differences (such as dyslexia or dyspraxia), physical or sensory disabilities, mental health issues or long-term medical conditions.

We would encourage you to contact your funding body, usually Student Finance England to start your application for Disabled Students' Allowances (DSA) as soon as you can (UK students only). From applying to getting your support and equipment in place takes around four months.

A Disability Adviser will be able to give you information, advice and guidance on the process and can help arrange loan equipment (where available) until your funding is approved. A report from the Needs Assessment (itemising equipment, non-medical personal help and other additional support) will then be written and forwarded to your funding authority.

Some students may require assistance with learning math or study skills. It is usually funded by DSA (Disabled Students' Allowances). You then receive this report after a few days and have the chance to read it. If you are happy with it and don't feel any changes need to be made then there report will be sent to your Funding Body.

The assessment committee also provide the students with the advice and support services that they need to help them in having the most pleasant learning and working experiences which means that at the end of the day the students are more independent and armed to face life head on.
